Happy New Year

January is a month of rest for me if I have had commissions due at Christmas.   Even so, a painting needing attention is waiting on the easel & sitting where I can see it as I pass by to & from the front door picking up mail, sweeping off the porch, putting away decorations.  It's amazing how much progress I can make on a painting during these slower times without lifting a brush.  Nothing in the yard currently needs my attention, it's too cold to prepare the beds for spring plantings & a new book is calling to me.  I am making a cup of tea to sip as I open its pages to enjoy these quiet winter days as my garden is sleeping only to be stirred from my reverie once in a while to the little sparrows & wrens chirping to each other as they find the crusts of bread & seeds I throw out for them.  I used to feel guilty for slowing down & quite frankly, I didn't have the time to as much when our children were little.  That season required its busyness that resulted in such precious sweet rewards and I am so happy to observe that this wonderful season has its rewards too.  I am thankful for both.

Carlene! Is the blog new, or am I behind times? I look forward to reading more posts😊

You go girl!!!

Very nice Carlene! I just tweeted your post. A bit late to the party, but this "social media" train is heading on down the tracks with or without us, so might as well hop onboard, right?
btw, I just posted my very first blog...
:-)

This is a new venture for me Patti........You've encouraged me in the past to create a blog and my new website offers that option so I thought I'd try it. => I hope to post at least once a month.....I don't know if I'll have time for more; we'll see. Dearest Katt; you are my cheerleader! <3 and Dale; nice to meet you! You're right........here we go!! It's GOOD to learn new things "they say". Congrats on your new post. I'm looking forward to checking it out.

Hello, just discovered your blog. I hate to say this, but you have got to get busy and/or trade someone to complete your web site, especially the gallerys!! I want to gaze upon some of my favorites and for new people, they need to see what you can do, how far your range is and all the wonderful work you have done! I won't beat you up too bad, but once in awhile, I am going to check, because the last time I checked it was November 2014 or so and you promised to get it finished!! Holding you to it!! If I had the skills, I would volunteer!! Love you!!

Thanks so much dear Shannon! I DO need some help with the "grunt-work" to get this website done. It's always something but part of the issue has been needing a new computer after some valiant attempts to resurrect my old PC. Soon! You'll see changes here soon........ I'm getting ready to have a meeting with the high school kid down the street! =D

Hi sweetness! You write as beautifully as you paint! I read all your blog posts through July 2015 tonight, and you're just amazing. I do know your source though. ;) Maybe it was all those years of writing letters to one another as practice, eh? (Ha! now THAT's truly a lost art form!! Especially hand-written letter. Oh my! And I don't seem to get my Christmas cards out either. I buy them, but they don't leave my house. I even address many of them, but want to write a note and hence, they never get mailed. I have cards addressed to you, WITH stamps on them, and they're sitting, waiting for me to write "a note." Pray for me in this area, dear one.)

Love your website and now your blog! It always feels like you're two doors down from me even though we're several states apart! God has blessed us with being sisters-in-Christ and I'm so thankful to Him for our friendship.

Love you much!

P.S. I don't know if you know this (I didn't until I read your Feb. 2015 post)--our earthly daddies are the same age. My dad turned 91 in March this year. :) Aging dads--another blessing from God to us along with the grandbabies!

Hello my dear long-distance, California childhood friend!! I can't believe I only responded to your comment in my mind dear Kathy! Thank you so much for keeping up with me. And here's to keeping up the not-yet-lost-art-form of writing real letters! Hopefully one coming your way soon sweet Sister. <3

Hi Carlene: Read your story and was greatly moved by it. Not only are you a gifted artist but also a wonderful writer. Perhaps, some day when you have the time. ha, ha, ha, you can begin to be a writer also. Nonfiction or Fiction or both. In addition to being a gifted artist, you would also be a great writer. You a wonderful step daughter, or should I say Daughter. Thank you for sharing your story with me. Love you much🙏 James
