Best Laid Plans
Looking back over my last (& first!) blog post, it occurs to me that the only day I got to rest & reflect was THAT day I described. I recall someone saying/writing once that Life is what happens in spite of my plans..........
I've decided that resting for the month of January happens regardless of my plans when I take a break from my work. So to give an example, one day my husband left for work & neither of us had any idea at that moment I would have an airline ticket by the time he returned home that evening to fly to Seattle to join my sister on a drive south to Oregon to help our dad celebrate his 91st birthday! What a wonderful time to bless & honor our father & then precious sister-time for the remainder of a week.
Then I got home in time to welcome my mom from California the next day......THAT was planned. Nothing compares to the sweet visit with my greatest cheerleader & the Oma-time she got to have with our daughter & her three children. So after waving goodbye to my little mother at the airport a few days ago, grieving over how big this country is but rejoicing over the blessing of a wonderful visit, I am scrambling to finally finish putting Christmas away, writing notes to people who have purchased artwork from me last year...(I didn't get to my Christmas cards.......) & suddenly aware of the ideas for new artwork whirling around in my head.
My season of rest was nothing like I planned but regardless & oddly enough, I feel rested, refreshed & ready to go!!
